OH WONDER WHITE BLOOD
Anthony West and Josephine Vander Gucht - better known as Oh Wonder - have dropped some of our favourite electronic slow-burners of the last twelve months, and none more so than the June instalment of their unique series. 'White Blood' is an ode to their friend Steven Keating, a doctoral student at MIT who "discovered a baseball-sized cancerous brain tumour during a voluntary academic scan" earlier in the year. It's essentially about fear of loss, and the crutch of human love and support we need to get through those times; it's also the most beautiful thing they've recorded as a duo, delicately unfurling over four minutes of tender pianos, sparing percussion and stirring harmonies. "Said you'd always be my white blood / Elevate my soul above." - DC
